American Royal Parade
The 86th annual American Royal Parade is presented by Phillips 66 and is a Kansas City tradition featuring a variety of bands, floats, and mounted equestrian units.
Please note our new date is Saturday September 17th, when we will indeed celebrate Kansas City’s most authentic and valuable, assets: our youth, our number one contributor to our economy agriculture, our military and The American Royal, one of Missouri’s oldest charitable associations supporting youth scholarships and agrarian values for 112 years.
We “light” the Parade’s fuse at 10:00 a.m. at Pershing and Grand and burn North on Grand Boulevard, and for the first time “burning” all the way to the Power and Light District where around noon the “fuse”, with the help of our partners in the Power & Light district’s Live!BLock, sets off an “Explosion” of Live Music, refreshments and amusements for the kids. The Olathe Kansas Walking Trail

The Olathe Kansas Walking Trail – Kansas Staycation Series
I used to be able to go for about 5 miles, but since school, I’m lucky if I make it 2 miles! LOL! Today, we went for a little over 4 miles. The trail is so nice, it’s paved, mostly in the shade, yet you can still in enjoy the sunshine. It follows the Indian Creek, and it’s just a very peaceful place to walk, bike or roller-blade. Hubby is so much fun to walk with, he walks a nice fast pace, which makes me work more to keep up with him! Somedays, he’ll jog it with one of the dogs and I’ll just stroll behind him! When the weather is good, and the dogs have had their walk- we’ll take out the bikes and ride. Bike riding is a blast on this trail! The most we’ve done is 12 miles, but the path is 18 miles!!
The Olathe Kansas Walking Trail – Kansas Staycation Series.

Need ideas for a Kansas City Staycation this summer?
What? You haven’t heard of a staycation??
Here is a quote/insert From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A staycation is a period of time in which an individual or family stays and relaxes at home, or vacations in their own country, possibly taking day trips to area attractions. Staycations achieved popularity in the US during the financial crisis of 2007-2010. The term was added to the 2009 version of the Merriam-Webster’s Collegiate Dictionary.
Common activities of a staycation include use of the backyard pool, visits to local parks and museums, and attendance at local festivals. Some staycationers also like to follow a set of rules, such as setting a start and end date, planning ahead, and avoiding routine, with the goal of creating the feel of a traditional vacation.
